ACS PRODUCT
It is a combination of numerous cytokines and interleukin which have a number of properties that improve the well being of the animal.
Cytokines
• Intercellular messenger molecules
• Synthesis
-Heterogeneity of cell types
-Inducible
• Effects
-Primarily Local (systemic when produced in abundance)
-Mediated trough
-Cell-associated receptors and target cells
-Intracellular signalling and gene transcription
• Regulation controlled at many steps
-Soluble receptors
-Message induction
-Soluble receptor antagonist
Cytokines – mediated effects
• Cell growth
• Cell differentiation
• Cell death
• Induce non-responsiveness to other cytokines/cells
• Induce responsiveness to other cytokines/cells
• Induce secretion of other cytokines
Interleukin-1 (IL-1)
• Pro-inflammatory of joint damage
• Important mediator of joint damage
-Activates collagenase and stromolysin
-Inhibits synthesis of collagen and proteoglycan
-Stimulates bone resorption by activating osteoclasts through an intermediary cytokine, osteoprotegerin ligand.
The interleukin -1 receptor accessory protein is essential for IL-1 induced activation of interleuin-1 receptor-associated kinase and stress activated protein kinases.
IL-1Ra
• Is a member of IL-1 family
• Is structurally related to IL-1
• Is produced constitutively and during inflammation
• Binds to IL-1 receptor
• Occupies but does not activate
• Does not allow docking of IL-1 accessory protein
• Is a pure receptor antagonist
EBS Low-Level Light Stimulation include IL-1 and IL-10. The pro-inflammatory compounds inhibited include IL-1, IL-2, IL-6 and TNF-alpha. EBS Labs uses this cutting edge technology to modulate the anti-inflammatory cytokines release from the white cells.
Method:
1. Phone to Laboratory office
2. Receive Esky, Blood Bag and Ice
3. Take Samples of blood from horse as per instructions
4. Closed lead to blood bag using the provided locking device and tie a knot in the lead above the locking control for security.
5. Place sealed Blood Bag with the identification sticker completed in esky provided.
6. Complete sample submission
7. Place ice in Esky seal and place esky in container provided and ship to relevant laboratory.
The use of Autologous Conditioned Serum for the equine athlete can be used for early arthritis ,synovitis, capsulitis and generalized joint inflammation not responding to traditional NSAID. A variety of soft tissue inflammation sites have been treated with ACS. In addition the direct site usage, intravenous administration of EBS. ACS is used to increase the circulation of the important regenerative compounds in the body of the equine athlete in a routine basis during racing and training.
Autologous Conditioned Serum can be used Intra-Articular by your Veterinarian once or twice weekly for 3-4 weeks. Intravenous injection can be administered by a qualified person eg. Trainers 5mls 2-3 times per week with the lust done being administered as per the protocol of the racing authorities around 24 hours prior to completing. Nebulisation 5mls 2-3 times per week by a qualified trainer or assistant also be used as per the protocols of the racing authorities.
